FAQ - Yetser Terrain

Below are some of the questions I am commonly asked. If you cannot find the information you are looking for, please do contact me.

Can I use a resin printer?

I only own an FDM printer and have therefore not done any test prints on a resin printer. Some of the terrain pieces might be too big to fit on a resin printer’s print bed. The product pages contain print dimensions for each terrain piece included in the set, so please do check those.

However, one customer has also kindly provided the following feedback based on their experience of printing using a Resin printer (Anycubic 4k Mono)

I have printed a few items and was able to get really good quality results.
I printed a couple of batches of connectors – by angling them I can print 7 or so at a time (about 30 mins each time).

Pillar caps I can stack 20 in a single print. again about 30 mins.
Pillars I laid flat – this was an experiment -With resin prints its all about the height. Keeping it shallow I got 7 on the plate and printed in 45 mins or so. I could have had them upright – then I could easily get 20 on the plate, but would take 7hrs to print

Walls – I did a couple of the designs. These I could stack 5-6 easily. I printed these upright so took about 7rs each.

Windows & Doors. These I had to fiddle with – your models have the Wall/Window as one STL.I split them into separate stls. That way I could arrange them on the plate and get 4 windowed walls to print together (about 7 hrs).
The windows I could stack 8 easily on a plate and took about 30 mins.
The same with the Doors – I split them so that I could print multiples. However I have only printed one set so far.

Floors I had to tweak a little more. It wouldn’t fit on the build plate printed flat.
I played with tilting the floor to 45 degrees. Then adding loads of supports. It looked like it would work. However it would have been a 7-8hr print!

So I went to Blender & split the STLs down the middle. By rotating each side so the sliced side was down, I can stack 6 half floors to print at one go. This worked really well (mostly) and I got 3 complete floors printed in a little under 6 hrs.

What printer settings should I use?

The test pieces I have printed have all be done at a 15mm layer height and 15% infill. You will be able to print the pieces at a larger layer height and infill percentage, but as some of the details on the prints are quite small, I cannot guarantee that they will look as they have been designed to if you choose to print at different print settings.

Do I need to use supports?

The majority of my Terrain pieces have been designed to be printed without the need for supports. That being said, there are a number of pieces that contain inbuilt supports which you will be able to remove with careful use of a craft knife.

Can I re-sell or share the Yetser Terrain files or prints?

Feel free to share share the .STL files with anyone else. I hope people enjoy using the terrain I have designed. They cannot be sold commercially though.
